Wihad Suleiman (1988) is a director and author from Syria. In 2012, she graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in the field of theater studies. After her apprenticeship she worked as a trainer in an interactive theater project, as well as a long-term project with a group of blind performers. She is a participant in the »New Writing for Theater« project at London’s Royal Court Theater. As part of this funding program, the piece »Existence« was written, which was also translated into English and German. One of her theoretical works as a director is the Play »My Tent« by Ghiath al-Mahitawi, 2014 in Lebanon. In 2015, Suleiman spent half a year at the »Theater an der Ruhr« as part of a sponsorship program run by the Goethe-Institut. In February 2017, her own version of the myth Medea premiered at the Great House of the Theater Oberhausen.
