Fronted by Dutch–Turkish artist Meral Polat, the band blends Anatolian and Kurdish musical traditions with elements of blues, rock, and psychedelic influences. Meral Polat Singer, composer, and theatre artist Meral Polat presents a programme that combines Kurdish musical heritage with contemporary composition and improvisation. Her music draws inspiration from Kurdish folk songs, poetic traditions, and modern musical influences. Chris Doyle
Chris Doyle is a British–Irish multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Amsterdam, best known for his work with the Meral Polat Band. Blending rich keyboard textures with influences from blues, rock, and Anatolian-inspired soundscapes, he helps shape the band’s distinctive cross-cultural musical identity. His playing adds depth, atmosphere, and a strong improvisational spirit to the live experience.
Jens Bouttery
Jens Bouttery is a Belgian drummer and composer based in Amsterdam, performing with the Meral Polat Band. Known for his powerful yet nuanced style, he blends jazz-rooted improvisation with driving, contemporary rhythms. His energetic playing forms the rhythmic core of the band’s dynamic live sound.
Lisa Lukaszczyk
Lisa Lukaszczyk is a German–Polish drummer and percussionist, best known for her work with the Meral Polat Band.
Her powerful and nuanced drumming combines precision with emotional depth, drawing from rock, jazz, and global rhythmic traditions. In the band’s live performances, she provides a driving rhythmic foundation that supports the fusion of Anatolian, Kurdish, and contemporary sounds, adding both intensity and dynamic flow to the music.
